Shylondia M. Pearson, Office Manager
**Background**
“I started out learning in school office management. I later took an internship at Bright Insurance Company where I volunteer until I was offered a full-time employment. Then I journeyed over to Parkland Hospital where I worked for 5 ½ years as a medical assistant for the Youth and Family Clinics and helped out with the Pediatric Fast Track Clinic. I truly loved working with the kids. This is when I knew that God called me to this line of work.
I took time off to have time with my kids and then went to work for a company called Kimberly Quality Care where I started out working as a receptionist and later moved to the data entry position. They were soon bought out and the name was changed to Olsten’s Home Health for a couple of years then it was changed to Gentiva Home Health where I was employed for 9 ½ years.
Gentiva was a wonderful experience for me. I worked with pediatrics staffing, managed the nurse’s schedules, visited with my patients and their family, delivered supplies to the patient homes, and assisted the supervisor with parathion of the state forms. Then I moved into intake and developed a module that worked for the office after which I became a coordinator to the home health side.
I took a short time off for my family and was called to join Bridgeway Home Health where I worked there for 1 ½ before I was employed with Approved Home Health where I have been now for 7 years.”
**What do you like most about working in your position?**
“I love working with people and helping them in any way. I love giving of myself as God has given to me. I believe that what I do is a calling from God. To be compassionate with the elderly, to brighten someone’s day. To give hope and encouragement to someone.”
**Tell us something about yourself that is not related to work.**
“I am the mother of four boys and 2 grand boys. The last son will graduate in 2016 and I am so grateful to see that day come. I love to work for my church with the administrative work, feeding the homeless, setting up programs and assisting wherever I am needed. Most of you (fellow employees) know that I enjoy traveling now. So after 2016 I hope to take a vacation to a place where I have never been before.”
